Style your knitwear for winter

Find your knitwear - and style it right

Now that fall is upon us and winter is fast approaching, it's time to bring out all those sweaters, dresses, cardigans - yes, EVERYTHING knitted - from the closet. The great thing about knits is that they can be dressed up and down in countless ways, but there are still some considerations you need to take into account when you pull on the knit. We'll walk you through some of these considerations to finally give you three great outfits.

The striped knit - possibilities and limitations

It is legendary and is definitely a must-have in everyone's wardrobe: The striped knit can do SO much! It can add style and elegance while giving a comfy look, but can it be combined with everything? Physically it may be possible, but that doesn't mean you should. When you pull on the striped knit, there are a few limitations in relation to the bottom you choose. For example, with a striped knit as a top, a striped bottom, for example in the form of pinstriped trousers, will not do anything good for the look - nor will checked bottoms. This is because such a similar pattern will clash with each other, and it creates confusion about what should be in focus.
This season we can also expect to see more experimental knitwear with patterns, prints and different materials, and in connection with the experimental knitwear, a bottom that is uniform in its expression will be preferable, as in that case the knitwear will be given the space it deserves and it can speak for itself.

Knitted dresses

Ugh, there's nothing more beautiful than wrapping yourself up in a knit dress that warms you from head to toe. The thing about knit dresses is that they can be very cozy and "proper" to look at, which is not a problem at all, but it leaves room for contrast. To take the look in a more raw direction, you might consider wearing a pair of chunky boots , which will create some contrast to the very fine and proper expression. At the same time, a statement necklace could help to add some playfulness and personality to the look.

Black with black

Is it wrong or brilliant? Hmmm, could it be both? Because there is no doubt that a black knit sweater with a pair of black pants is a classic look that you can't go wrong with, but it can also have the effect that the whole look blends in with itself, and nothing really stands out. It is also worth considering that this season calls for color in life, and you can therefore consider styling your black knit with a pair of blue jeans or some gray cargo pants .

The more colorful knit sweater

With white, it's a different matter with black pants. As with black/black, a classic look is still created that lasts, and if it's a white sweater with black stripes, a pair of black pants would give a sense of coherence to the look. In general, white sweaters can be styled nicely with black pants, but it's also especially with white sweaters that you can wear colorful bottoms, so don't hold back in these combinations.
Since colors are in demand this season, you can pair a colored knit with colored bottoms, but if you have a knit in a special color and you want to highlight the color, you can wear bottoms in a neutral color such as black, white or gray to give the color more room to play.

Casual, yet fancy

One of the things that knitwear really can do is combine the comfortable with the pretty, where we have put together three different looks, each playing with colors, fabric types and different looks.
The first look we wanted to put together was our Freya knit sweater in beige, which has a cozy and elegant look to it. We wanted to pair this with our blue Frederikke jeans to create a more casual look that is still reasonably comfortable due to the slight width in the legs, while denim is big at the moment and still contributes to a stylish look. The fact that the legs have some width creates plenty of opportunity to pull on the heels. Here we would choose our Millie stilettos in black, as they contribute a glamorous touch to the look, while being relatively neutral in expression and thus blending well with the laid-back nature of the rest of the outfit.
But maybe you're not the type to pull on jeans, craggy pants or any other kind of pants? Then we've put together something for you too. Because we have a striped sweater in a really nice color, namely our Lucianna sweater in navy, which adds a bit of color to the look. However, it's still relatively dark in color, which is why we would recommend combining this sweater with our Lina skirt in white. There will be a nice play between the white stripes in the sweater and the white skirt, while the length and material of the skirt will work well in the cooler winter months. Again, heels will work quite well for the look, possibly in combination with a pair of long boots that will go well with the skirt. Therefore, we would recommend rounding off the look with our Clover boots in black, as they will add a certain raw elegance to the set.
Our last set features the incredibly cozy, soft and simply wonderfully beautiful Amari knit sweater in dark brown, which despite the dark brown shade is light enough to brighten up a dark bottom. You can therefore consider a pair of black pants or possibly combine it with our Zaria skirt in black, as its silky look will lift the knit sweater to completely different levels of elegance. For a chic look, you can wear our Carolina Cowboy boots in black with the set, which have proven to be very popular in the autumn and winter season.

We hope you have become more confident in how to style knitwear for winter.

With love,
The girls from Astrid Frank
