The best denim trends for winter 2024/2025
Denim for winter
We are well into autumn, and that means we will soon be thinking about finding our winter wardrobe. In this regard, we will help you find out what to find - either from the closets or from the racks in the stores. The big trend of the year has been denim, and we will look at how to wear denim this winter season.
Comfort above all
It's probably the after-effects of isolation and working from home during the lockdowns of the corona epidemic, but we've become really good at prioritizing comfort in our clothing choices, and it's also a trend that has spread to the catwalk - and not least our jeans. The terrible time when we had to squeeze ourselves into skinny jeans is happily over, because now jeans with a wide leg have made a comeback, and what a comeback! We're not just talking about wideness at the level where we can relatively easily stick our legs through, no, it can't actually get wild enough with baggyness, flare, width and generally oversized trouser legs, yes even the good balloon jeans adorn the runway. It can't get loose and comfortable enough.
And how do you best style these wide jeans to avoid a slouchy look? To create a strong contrast, you can start by pairing your jeans with a pair of heels that add a touch of grace. For a chic look, you can also wear a crop top that is not only very in again, but also goes great with jeans. Top the look with either an oversized blazer for a more professional look or a leather or faux leather jacket.
With comfort at the forefront, it's no wonder that cargo jeans and long denim skirts are both trending. The latter can be styled with a corset or a tight-fitting top.
Detailed denim
It's not just plain denim that's popular at the moment; the time has come for a more experimental approach to denim. This can be seen, for example, through the addition of graphic prints, other colorful additions such as patches or sewn-on designs. It can also be expressed through different patterns, such as stripes and checks. The color expression is also experimental for winter, which can be seen by the fact that overdyed jeans will turn out to be large, while jeans with a wide leg will often turn out to have a vintage washed look. Regarding the experimental nature of denim colors, it should also be said that although the bluish indigo colors are naturally prominent, greenish shades have also been strongly represented on the runway.
Double denim
Denim, denim, denim - we can't get enough of denim, not even all at once! That's why denim with more denim has become a trend that's a hit. For the same reason, the Canadian Tuxedo (also known as the Canadian Tuxedo) has returned, where you will traditionally wear denim trousers combined with either a denim shirt or denim jacket . Roughly speaking, it's about combining a denim bottom with a denim top, and it's a relatively easy way to combine denim with denim. However, there are other ways, for example by combining jeans with a denim vest, maybe a hoodie with a denim hood or something as simple as a denim pocket on your top. The possibilities are many, but one has been so prominent on the runway that it needs to be mentioned: denim corsets over denim jackets! Maybe not the combo we see most in the street scene, but it's proof that you shouldn't be afraid to combine your favorite denim!
An old friend
We've saved an old favorite for last, which we're definitely happy to see return, but which can quickly become obsolete. We're talking about ripped denim, of course, meaning jeans with holes or at least deliberate wear and tear in the fabric. This winter we're going to see wear and tear in denim, and there really can't be too much of it. So get those pants, that jacket, or whatever you fancy that your grandma doesn't understand and is actually a little annoyed about.
